Farming is the skill of practising agriculture and providing food for consumption. Together they are crucial to food production and the environment.
Reaseheath has a long-standing reputation throughout the agricultural and farming industries for its agriculture and farming courses and an excellent relationship with the farming community. Based on the College Farm, students are taught the latest industry techniques, developing their farm management and business skills and supported by in-depth, science based knowledge of current industry practices.
You can take additional industry recognised qualifications such as PA certification and Safe use of Veterinary Medicines, delivered by our highly experienced staff.
Situated in the dairy county of Cheshire, our agricultural courses cover a wide range of farming practices and reflect the latest developments within the industry.
Study takes place on the College Farm where a knowledge of mixed and dairy production farming is developed. Taught by highly experienced staff, you will develop your understanding of technical, economic, legal and managerial principles in farm management, and partake in off-site visits to commercial farms and an international study tour to gain a global view of the industry.
The College estate extends to 330 hectares of owned and rented land and includes the College Farm, a 272 hectare farm offering world class industry standard teaching facilities, including a 32/32 rapid exit milking parlour and anaerobic digester.
The Farm grows forage and arable crops and houses the Reaseheath Pedigree High Yielding Holsteins and Youngstock dairy herd, commercial sheep flock and high welfare commercial pigs.
Students may also have an opportunity to apply for The John Platt Travel Scholarship, created in recognition of John Platt and supported by The Cheshire Agricultural Society. The travel scholarship allows successful students to improve their education and/or experience through an opportunity to travel, gaining additional experience and knowledge from the industry.
