Benefit from our close industry links
Your course will be carefully balanced between events management and business modules, with content being supported by our industry partners.
You will gain experience and build your network of industry links at commercial events such as Bolesworth International Horse Show, the Royal Cheshire Show, CarFest and the Nantwich Food Festival. Our own campus and facilities are also used as an events and wedding venue with festivals, seasonal markets and corporate events being held on site. You will also be able to get involved with the events that our Student Association organise throughout the year to gain extra experience.
We have lots of guest speakers visit us throughout the year, who will keep you fully informed about current practice within the sector and your potential career options.
Learn from your industry mentor
Your learning experience will be enriched with access to an industry mentor who will be on hand to support you during your studies. They will help you practice for interviews and answer any industry questions you may have.
Practical experience is essential to work in this industry as well as learning the skills to organise and work to strict deadlines. Having the opportunity to bring ideas to life requires dedication and a lot of your own time but the results at the end are worth it!
Blakemere enjoys working alongside students as we not only get to watch them grow but also learn new fresh ideas from them as well. The hands-on experience gained with us alongside studying helps students decide on their career paths after they graduate.
We are committed to producing graduates who are career ready for a wide variety of opportunities in this industry.
Gain extra experience
You will undertake a relevant work placement† in your second year (minimum 115 hours) to gain first-hand experience and develop your industry knowledge through study tours, project work and conferences. From organising student socials and charity fundraisers, to working at prestigious public events on and off campus, you will gain lots of practical experience needed to prepare you for your future career.
You will visit commercial events both in the UK and overseas, including the industry’s biggest expo — the Event Production Show — as well as an optional study tour* to Barcelona and international sporting venues such as Curcuit de Barcelona- Catalunya for the F1 Grand Prix Testing Days.
Independent study projects will help you to recognise your strengths and interests while building self-confidence in your own abilities.
You will be able to tailor your work experience and professional project dissertation to suit your future career aspirations. This experience will be highly relevant to your career and will give you the competitive edge when you apply for jobs and when you’re asked to discuss your experience in interviews.
The study tour is related to the assessment in the International Events and Tourism module and usually takes place in March. Whilst the tour is optional, attendance is recommended as the tour offers the opportunity to gain a deeper insight into international events and could benefit you in both your study and future career (an alternate is provided for those who chose not to attend).

Hannah Britland
BSc (Hons) Business and Events Management 2019
I am interested in agriculture and business so this degree was perfect for me. I gained practical experience through planning our own events and chatting to guest speakers and I also learned the theory behind all aspects of business.
After graduating I became a marketing and communications assistant with KUHN Farm Machinery. The company works closely with dealerships and farmers, and communication with our clients is key. I use a range of skills in my role which were broadened during my degree.
I’d advise anyone unsure of which route to take to think of a business degree. Reaseheath’s lecturers have experience in the sector so they teach practical solutions which will benefit your career in the future.
