Each year there are thousands of events taking place throughout the UK and abroad, including agricultural and county shows, festivals, sporting events, community events, village fetes, fundraising, weddings, parties, conferences, business events, trade shows, product launches, award ceremonies… the list goes on.
Located in the agricultural county of Cheshire and three major cities, Liverpool (Capital of Culture in 2008), Manchester and Birmingham, within close proximity hosting a variety of events, Reaseheath is ideally placed to deliver courses in business and events. The college and university centre organises a large number of events that take place on campus throughout the year, such as lambing weekends, apple festivals, equestrian events, careers fairs, agricultural shows, weddings, conferences and the annual Family Festival just some of the events on offer.
To offer graduates a leading position in the jobs market, students are given the opportunity to enhance their career prospects by taking an events industry professional qualification.
You will apply your business knowledge, taking into account the financial, legal and socio-political economic contexts of the nature of the business as well as using practical skills to organise a range of events or aid in the planning and running of Reaseheath events.
Event management requires you to problem-solve, paying meticulous attention to detail, and able to juggle many tasks at once, whilst remaining calm and level headed. Alongside event management and business theory, students will undertake an events industry professional qualification. Due to our strong links with commercial events in the area, such as Bolesworth International and Liverpool International Equine events, and Blakemere Winter Woodland event, students will participate in their organisation and running. This is in addition to relevant work experience in industry and our international study tour.
If you enjoy planning, organising and meeting people, event management can offer a varied and rewarding career. Event managers are responsible for organising and running events so as well as possessing business acumen, good communication and ‘people’ skills are necessary. Our courses are designed for those who wish to develop a career in a business or events management role and can enhance employability in the events sector.
The college and university centre organises a large number of events throughout the year, both on and off campus and participates in a variety of annual shows in the region. Taught by an experienced team of staff, students will plan and manage a range of events by participating in the organisation of institution events as well as their own, as part of the first year of their studies – some courses don’t do this until the second year.
Event management requires meticulous planning and organisation and students will develop their business management and practical skills to support event planning and organisation.
