Life-changing is the way Jamie describes his time as a Reaseheath undergraduate, crediting his degree for his career change from factory shop floor worker to potential lecturer.
Although he had previously gained a Diploma in Countryside Management with us, the offer of a permanent job drew him into an unrelated career. But his interest in countryside matters persisted and he returned to join our popular part-time degree programme, which allowed him to continue working while studying.
As he only had to attend college one evening a week, Jamie was able to catch up on research and project work at home and during rest breaks at work. He thoroughly enjoyed the Saturday field trips, which allowed him to put theory into practice, and also took part in our Family Festival, where he engaged the public in conservation activities.
A Distinction student throughout his course, Jamie is now topping up to a BSc (Hons) in Countryside and Environmental Management at Harper Adams University. He will progress onto a Masters degree and possibly further, leading to a career in research or lecturing.
