Reasons to attend an Open Day at UCR

If you are thinking about degree level study, we know that there is a lot to consider. What subject shall I choose and what careers will it lead to? Is a large, city campus or a smaller, rural campus best for me? Shall I live on-site or commute from home?

You don’t need to answer all these questions alone; by attending an Open Day at UCR you can ask our friendly staff for their expertise, experience what life is like as a student here and gain all the information you need to feel confident with your decision.

Find the course that’s right for you

At UCR we are well-known for our innovative courses which lead to rewarding careers in the land-based sector. If, like us, you care about the earth we share and want to learn how to protect it for years to come, gaining a degree from University Centre Reaseheath would be a great choice for you.

By attending an Open Day at UCR, you will have the opportunity to explore our courses in more detail, with a sample lecture in the courses you are most passionate about and the opportunity to ask our highly experienced teaching staff all your questions.

Whether you are interested in Animal Science, Agriculture, Canine Behaviour, Bakery and Food Science, Equine Science, Conservation, Football Coaching, Landscape Architecture or Rural Business Management, the day is a great opportunity to experience what studying a degree at UCR is really like.

Tour our beautiful campus

The campus you study on is just as important as the course you study, so it’s worth thinking about the type of place you would feel most comfortable. Our campus is slightly smaller than those you would find in big cities, which our students say makes it easier to meet new people, find your way around and receive more 1-1 support from tutors.

During an Open Day at UCR, you are welcome to have a good look around our campus and see if it’s where you would like to make yourself at home. Our campus has a relaxed feel to it, with plenty of nature and an on-site lake which makes it the perfect place to study your land-based degree. There is also lots of social spaces for students, and a wealth of innovative facilities and equipment for each course area. We would love to show you around!

Chat to our current students

The best way to get to know more about life at UCR is by chatting to our current students, which you will have the chance to do at one of our Open Days. Whether you want to ask them about their course, the student societies they are part of, what it’s like to like in student accommodation, or just for their advice about starting a degree, they are more than happy to share their experiences with you.

Understand the process of applying for a degree

The chances are this is your first time applying for a degree, so you’re not expected to know how it works just yet. At an Open Day at UCR, we are here to help you with any questions you have, including how to submit your applications and apply for student finance, what you need to know if you are applying as a mature or international student, how to arrange any additional support you require and much more. After attending an Open Day,  we are sure you will feel more confident with the process of applying for a degree.

Explore the local area

Because our Open Days usually finish at about 2.30pm, you will have lots of time to explore the local area during the rest of the day. Perhaps you would like to take a trip into the nearby town of Nantwich, where you can take a walk through the park, explore the wide range of shops, or grab a coffee or some lunch in one of the beautiful independent cafes and restaurants?

You are more than welcome to bring a friend or a family member with you to our Open Days, whether you want some company, a second opinion or another person to take in the information with you.
