Industry Focused

As an animal science undergraduate, you’ll gain hands-on experience in our unique industry-standard facilities which include our £2.4 million Animal Management Centre.

We have held a zoo licence for over fifteen years and are a full member of BIAZA (British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums). Our zoo is home to over 250 different animal species, and has dedicated rooms for aquatic, exotic and companion animals, plus a wide range of outdoor exhibits and aviaries.

We also have a canine arena for dog training, a fully equipped grooming parlour, a veterinary nursing centre and newly-refurbished laboratories.

Industry specialists will help put your learning into context, with previous guests including Dr Nick Davis, Deputy Curator of Mammals at Chester Zoo, influential conservationist Ian Redmond OBE and wildlife advocate Dominic Dyer from the Born Free Foundation.

From researching animal behaviour and nutrition, to educating future generations or working hands-on with animals, an Animal Sciences degree is your doorway to an exciting and fast-moving field, with ever-expanding knowledge and new challenges to apply your passion and purpose.

Career Ready

Our lecturers are experts in their field and are eager to share and support you with their knowledge and experience. As you develop your practical portfolio, you will further your understanding of welfare, animal health and the skills sought after by the animal care profession.
