Reaseheath College and University Centre graduates have celebrated their academic achievements at Chester Cathedral, with three students recognised for their outstanding research, personal progression and academic excellence.
More than 160 graduates gathered with family, friends and tutors at Chester Cathedral on Wednesday, November 4th to celebrate a major milestone in their academic and professional journeys.
The ceremony recognised students who have completed higher education qualifications across Reaseheath’s specialist subject areas, including agriculture, animal management, equine science, wildlife conservation, food science and veterinary nursing.
The occasion marked the culmination of years of hard work, dedication and determination, as graduates celebrated their achievements and looked ahead to the opportunities their qualifications will bring.
As one of the University of Chester’s higher education centres, Reaseheath offers students the opportunity to develop specialist knowledge and practical skills in industries that play an important role in the future of the land-based sector, animal welfare, food production and environmental sustainability.
Jane Nickisson, Assistant Principal and Dean of Higher Education, at Reaseheath College and University Centre, said: “Graduation is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate everything our students have achieved during their time at Reaseheath.
“Our graduates have worked incredibly hard to reach this point, developing their knowledge, skills and confidence while making the most of the opportunities available to them. We are immensely proud of their achievements and the contribution they will make to their chosen professions.
“Today’s graduates are entering industries that are vital to our future, and I hope they leave Reaseheath feeling proud of how far they have come and excited about the opportunities ahead. We look forward to seeing what they go on to achieve.”
Among those graduating were the recipients of this year’s Reaseheath Dean’s Awards, recognising exceptional achievement in academic and technical excellence, personal progression and undergraduate research.
Gabrielle Parr, an Animal Management graduate, was recognised for Outstanding Achievement and Personal Progression. Gabrielle’s journey through higher education saw her progress from a foundation year to achieving a distinction in her Foundation Degree, before going on to complete her BSc with first-class honours. Along the way, she developed her confidence and found ways to overcome challenges, including delivering presentations.
Ellie Taylor received the Meredydd David Award for Academic and Technical Excellence after graduating with first-class honours in Veterinary Nursing. Inspired by her own hamster, Arthur, Ellie explored barriers to the diagnosis and management of eye disease in hamsters as part of her dissertation research. Her academic achievements were further highlighted by her performance in her final practical examinations, where she passed all 12 OSCE stations, the first student on the degree to achieve a perfect score.
The achievements of Rob, Gabrielle and Ellie reflect the breadth of talent, dedication and ambition among Reaseheath’s graduates, whose studies have equipped them to make a positive contribution to their chosen fields.
