Reaseheath’s next generation of veterinary nurses celebrate professional milestone

A new generation of veterinary nurses has taken an important step into the profession, as graduates Reaseheath College and University made their professional declaration at St Anselm’s Chapel on the grounds of Chester Cathedral on Wednesday, November 4th.

The graduates, who have completed Reaseheath’s BSc (Hons) Veterinary Nursing degree, were joined by family, friends, tutors and representatives from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) for the ceremony in St Anselm’s Chapel, ahead of the University of Chester’s main graduation celebrations.

The declaration marks a significant moment for the graduates, recognising the professional responsibilities they will take on as veterinary nurses. Their work will play an important role in supporting animal health and welfare, helping pets and other animals receive the care they need throughout their lives.

Susan Howarth RVN, the RCVS Veterinary Nursing Council representative, attended the ceremony, supporting the graduates as they made their declaration.

Steph Jackson, RVN and Programme Leader for Veterinary Nursing at Reaseheath, said: “Our students have developed the resilience, compassion, knowledge and skills needed to take on the responsibilities of a veterinary nurse. We are incredibly proud of them all and what they have achieved and very excited to see the difference they will make to animals and the future contributions they will make to the veterinary nursing profession.”

Jane Nickisson, Dean of Higher Education at Reaseheath, added: “It is a privilege to celebrate our veterinary nursing graduates as they take this important step into their profession.

“Veterinary nurses play a vital role in animal health and welfare. Our graduates are entering a profession where their knowledge, skill and compassion will make a real difference, and we look forward to seeing what they go on to achieve.”

Reaseheath’s BSc (Hons) Veterinary Nursing degree is fully accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS), enabling eligible graduates to apply to join the RCVS Register of Veterinary Nurses and begin their professional careers.

Full accreditation reflects the quality of Reaseheath’s Veterinary Nursing degree, which combines evidence-based teaching, extensive clinical experience and dedicated student support to prepare graduates for professional practice.
