“We both wanted to run our own businesses and now we’ve achieved the dream! We opened our cake and coffee shop in November 2021 and are thrilled at the support from townsfolk, who regularly pop in for a brownie or tray bake and a chat with friends.

“We’ve loved the independence of creating our cake range and the buzz of seeing trade grow. A lot has been due to the creative and business skills we learned at college and university, which gave us the confidence to take the project forward. The hygiene and health and safety courses we gained have been essential, as has the advice on business registration, administration and marketing.

“We both ran successful on-line cake businesses while we were undergraduates, so we combine running our shop with meeting orders for celebration cakes and boxed selections for pre-existing and new on-line customers. Forming a partnership and being able to share ideas really helps!”
