  • Ask lots of questions – make sure you get all the information you need.
  • Make sure you have access to the UCAS Hub and emails.
  • Visit your choices to help you make a decision. You can find out about our next open event here.
  • Make the decision that is right for you – this is your future.

Clearing FAQs

We hope you find this list of FAQs helpful. If you have any further questions, please get in touch.

Clearing is how universities fill any places they still have left on their courses.

From 5 July – 21 October, you can apply for a course using Clearing if you’re not already holding an offer from a university, and the course still has places.

You can use Clearing if:

  • you’re applying after 30 June and meet the course entry requirements
  • you didn’t receive any offers (or offers you wanted to accept)
  • you didn’t meet the conditions of your offers
  • you’ve paid the multiple choice application fee of £26.50
  • you’ve declined your firm place using the ‘decline my place’ button in your application

Call our Admissions Team for advice and guidance. We will be available Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm, on 0333 733 1965.

If you have one, you will need your UCAS ID number when you call so we can view your UCAS application online during your call. If you don’t know yours we can still find your information by asking a few more questions.

You will need to know your qualifications and grades.

We will discuss the course(s) you are interested in and determine if you are qualified for entry on to the course. We can arrange for a call with a member of the course team if required, for a more in-depth discussion about the course.

In most cases, you will receive a decision on your application during the phone call. If this is not possible, we will explain why and give you an indication of how long it will take.

If we do offer you a place you cannot add a clearing choice on UCAS Hub until 1pm on 17 August (if you have applied in the main cycle.) For those applying in Clearing from 5 July, you can add us as soon as we can confirm the offer. This is to allow all applicants in Clearing the opportunity to contact institutions and make informed decisions.

You should not click “Add a Clearing Choice” on UCAS Hub until you have spoken to the institution and have verbally been offered a place. If you add a choice before being offered a place it could result in a delay in your application being formally processed by the correct institution.

You can view all of our courses available through clearing here.

You can speak to our Admissions Team for advice and guidance, Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm, on 01270 613 284

Ciara's experience

“I applied to study FdSc Zoo Management at University Centre Reaseheath through Clearing four weeks before the course was due to start and found it all surprisingly easy!

“When I applied to UCR, I was working in an industry that I wasn’t really passionate about and wanted to change my career path to get back to working with animals again in a Zookeeper role.

“University Centre Reaseheath offers a wide range of Animal Science degrees, and has a brilliant on-site mini zoo with a huge number of different species, including reptiles, amphibians, mammals and birds of prey, so it really stood out to me as the place to study and prepare for employment in the zoo industry.

“In my free time, I volunteer in Reaseheath’s mini zoo two days a week as well as one day at week at Welsh Mountain Zoo for extra experience, which is really rewarding and will help me find employment quickly after I graduate.

“I am so happy that I applied to UCR when I did and I am excited for my future career now. If you are thinking about studying a degree, perhaps to help you with a career change like me, I would really recommend applying to UCR now through Clearing instead of waiting another year.

“It’s a big decision, but if you study at UCR this September, I am sure you won’t regret it!”
