Over £80 million has been invested across campus on new buildings and resources, meaning you’ll be learning in sector-leading facilities using the latest cutting-edge technology.
Our 330-hectare campus is located in rural Cheshire and has a diverse setting of farm, zoo, woodland and parkland. We even have our own lake – perfect for relaxing with friends on a sunny day!

Our dedicated University Centre is the main hub for our degree students with IT suites, a newly developed dual-screen lecture theatre, tutorial rooms, group study areas and its own, newly refurbished, café.

Our fully licensed £2.4 million Zoo and Animal Management Centre, accredited by the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA), is home to over 250 different animal species, including exotic mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish, companion and park animals, and birds of prey.
Our campus is home to an abundance of native wildlife and is often used by animal science undergraduates for practical-based study and research projects.
Home to our dairy herd and sheep flock, our farm incorporates the very latest precision technologies for sustainable agricultural practices.
We provide training in the latest robotic milking and crop production systems including precision farming, agronomy, and data mapping. We are partnered with Lely, JCB and Kuhn, many of whom donate machinery and equipment.
We have a state-of-the-art, £9 million, fully automated glasshouse and vertical farm facility. This is the only one of its kind in the UK, and features the latest hydroponic and LED-lighting technologies for protected cultivation.
Our £3.5 million Equestrian Centre has all the facilities you’d expect on a professional yard, such as an indoor school and outdoor arenas with competition surfaces, stabling for over 60 horses and plenty of areas for practical teaching. High-tech equipment includes a gait analysis system, a mechanical horse, and VO2 Max Testing equipment for riders, and we have excellent laboratories for scientific study.
Our £7 million Food Centre is one of the best food processing teaching facilities in Europe.
We were the first educational facility to hold AA rating with the British Retail Consortium. Our food centre is the National Skills Academy for Food & Drink Dairy Champion. Our facilities include industry standard food processing halls, a butchery, and bakery, alongside food innovation rooms and a sensory tasting lab.
Featuring the very latest scientific equipment to analyse food characteristics and quality, the lab is run in partnership with the University of Chester as part of the Institute of Sustainability, Food and Innovation (IoSFI).
UCR’s dedicated kennel spaces are combined with a competition-standard training arena, complete with high-quality canine agility equipment.
