Academic Registrar
Originally from County Durham, Tom joined University Centre Reaseheath in 2020 as a lecturer in agriculture, having previously worked in the dairy industry for over ten years.
Tom has travelled extensively to the USA, Eastern Europe, and Scandinavia to explore various aspects of global food production. He was an Oxford Farming Conference Scholar in 2018, the recipient of a 2019 Moredun Foundation Award and from 2021-2023 was the recipient of an Agricultural Educators Award which he used to undertake CPD related to environmental practices on UK livestock farms.
Tom graduated from Askham Bryan College with a Foundation Degree in Agriculture with Land Management and later graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Agricultural Livestock Science top-up from University Centre Myerscough. In 2021, Tom studied a Postgraduate Certificate in Sustainable and Efficient Food Production at Aberystwyth University.
Tom is currently external examiner for the Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes in Agriculture, Horticulture and Environmental Conservation Management at the University of South Wales/Bridgend College, and has experience as an external validation advisor at the University of Wales Trinity St David.
Main Responsibilities
Tom is UCR’s Academic Registrar and manages the Registry and Academic Services team. UCR’s registry function supports the student experience from admissions and enrolment through to the confirmation of awards, whilst its academic services team ensure compliance with academic quality and standards, and support students with key processes such as exceptional circumstances applications.
